Tottenham proved too hot to handle for Ronald Koeman’s side as the North London outfit handed Everton a 3-2 defeat at the White Hart Lane. Kane scored once in each half to help his side close the gap on leaders Chelsea to seven points who play West Ham United on Monday.
The Merseyside club threatened to level the score after Lukaku pulled one back for Everton in the 81st minute but Dele Alli extended Tottenham’s lead to 2 goals just before Enner Valencia pulled another one back for Everton to make it 3-2. Everton couldn’t find an equaliser in the dying minutes of the game and succumbed to a 3-2 loss. Below are Tottenham’s individual player ratings:
Below are Tottenham’s individual player ratings:
Hugo Lloris:
Rating: 7
The Frenchman couldn’t have done anything to stop the two goals and was decent between the sticks.
Kyle Walker:
Rating:7.5
Walker created width with his runs down the right and also got into good crossing position but didn’t manage to put in accurate crosses.
Eric Dier:
Rating:7.5
Eric Dier put in two excellent tackles in the game but lacked concentration in the last few minutes of the game.
Toby Alderweireld
Rating:7.5
Alderweireld did well to impede the progress of Everton attackers with some clever challenges but he too was culpable in losing concentration in the last few minutes.
Jan Vertonghen:
Rating:8
Vertonghen put in some vital challenges in both the halves and made several runs through the middle running past Everton defenders in the process.
Ben Davies:
Rating:7.5
Davies was decent throughout the game and put in several crosses and enjoyed great duels against Seamus Coleman and Tom Davies.
Victor Wanyama:
Rating:7.5
Wanyama tried his luck from distance on a few occasions and also hit the frame of the goal once with his attempt from just outside the box. His defensive work was great too except for the last 10 minutes when he seemed to have lost that feeling of security after Dembele was substituted off.
Moussa Dembele:
Rating:8
Dembele pressurised Schneiderlin into playing a nervous back pass to Ashley Williams which eventually led to Tottenham’s second goal. He also seems to give Tottenham a sense of security when leading and Tottenham suddenly looked nervous without him even if his offensive output in terms of forward passes isn’t much.
Dele Alli:
Rating:8.5
Dele Alli got the vital third goal for Tottenham which almost ensured three points with an excellent run which highlighted his ability to pop up at the right places.
Christian Eriksen:
Rating:8
Eriksen was great again and had a great impact offensively. His influence was often subtle and deserves a lot of credit for his performance.
Harry Kane:
Rating:9
Harry Kane is enjoying a particularly wonderful form off late and he continued his goal-scoring exploits as he added another two, one of which was a rocket from distance and gave Tottenham the lead out of nowhere.
Substitutes:
Harry Winks:
Rating:7.5
Winks came up with a clever freekick to extend Tottenham’s lead in the dying minutes of the game.
Moussa Sissoko:
Rating:6
Sissoko did little after coming on and wasted a ball after he got some decent space in the right channel.
Vincent Janssen:
Rating:7
Vincent Janssen won two free-kicks towards the end, one of which was converted by Dele Alli.
