Everton’s revival under Ronald Koeman continues but the Merseyside club could lose some big names after this season. The Toffees had a fairly busy winter transfer window with two players arriving at the club, Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United and Ademola Lookman from Charlton Athletic. Everton are currently in the seventh place and have a realistic chance to participate in Europe.
A number of players have failed to clinch a spot in the starting lineup and might leave the club at the end of this season. Here are three possible players who could face the sack.
James McCarthy- The Republic Of Ireland midfielder has had very limited appearances this season. The 26-year old has been linked with a number of clubs but the Merseyside club have rejected a move every time. He has made only seven starts this season and the resurgence of Tom Davies has also halted his progress.
Also, the midfielder has been struggling with injury problems and has missed a brief period of the season due to various injuries. He is not exactly a typical Koeman type player and if thing continues to go like this he could leave the club in near future in search of regular first team action.
Ross Barkley- Barkley’s future has been a subject of speculation. The midfielder was struggling to fit in Koeman’s plan but since he started playing in a bit advanced role he has flourished this term. Mauricio Pochettino has been a long-term admirer of the player and had tried to bring the player to White Hart Lane. But Koeman is eyeing a long-term plan at Goodison Park and is trying to build a team which can sustain in the Premier League. Also if they do qualify for the Europe it will open a new window of opportunity for the player.
Romelu Lukaku- The former Chelsea striker has reportedly rejected signing a new contract. He was signed for a club record £28 million from Chelsea and till now has scored 65 goals for them. His emergence this season has attracted a lot of interest from different clubs particularly from his former club Chelsea.
His goal scoring prowess hasn’t gone unnoticed by Antonio Conte who will have to find a new striker should Diego Costa leave. His agent Mino Raiola earlier gave a hint that the player is on the verge of a new contract but it seems the Belgian has some other plans.
