It has been a season of resurgence and resurrection for Newcastle United. Under the tutelage of Rafael Benitez, the Championship outfit have returned to their winning ways once again and are poised in a pretty handsome position from where they can win the second tier of English football and in the process get an automatic qualification to the Premier League.
However, we could see some transfer activity in the summer transfer window, as Benitez would surely be targeting potential transfers which would be of great help to his side to endure the animosity of the top tier and also to excel therein.
Here are three players who could be sold by Newcastle United in order to bring in fresh faces.
Daryl Murphy
Daryl Murphy had made quite a name for himself whilst plying his trade for Ipswich Town, inking his name as one of the finest wingers on the block. Newcastle United acquired his services in order to strengthen their attacking arsenal, but so far this campaign, he has been overlooked time and again, despite being quite a decent player in the 5 games he has been handed by Benitez, in which he has scored 2 goals and created a chance. The 33-year-old Republic of Ireland international, at this stage of his career, must be looking forth to accumulate more game time under his belt rather than being an unwanted commodity on the bench and could very well be off the books of the Geordies come the summer transfer window.
Chancel Mbemba
Apparently surplus to the requirements of Newcastle United, Chancel Mbemba’s days at St. James’ Park are getting severely numbered. It might sound harsh at the onset but Mbemba doesn’t have the quality anymore to be in the Magpies’ ranks, even as a deputy.
He hasn’t been seen in Newcastle United’ emphatic campaign in the Championship and with his current employers being seemingly likely to get an automatic promotion to the Premier League, the Congolese International might be shipped away in the summer as the former Real Madrid boss would be looking to clear the deadwood.
DeAndre Yedlin
Ever since his move from Tottenham Hotspur, DeAndre Yedlin hasn’t really been a sensation or anything of that sort for the black and white crop and Benitez does have an area to fix. With Yedlin being often played on the right side, it has come to notice that the opponents are exploiting him week in and week out, and it is most likely that the US international would not fit the bill in the times to come.
