Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge in a bid to secure a place in the FA Cup semifinals. This will be Jose Mourinho’s second visit to the stadium as a rival coach. His first visit was not a memorable one as Chelsea thrashed a hapless United 4-0. Since then a number of games have been played and both teams have gone through ups and downs.
Revenge would be on Mourinho’s mind when he will be in the opponent’s dugout. United are currently in sixth place in the Premier League and are very much out of the title race. Chelsea are currently leading the Premier League table and Antonio Conte’s side pretty much have their hands on the title
United will be without their highest scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the 35-year-old has been banned for elbowing Bournemouth’s Tyron Mings in the Premier League. United are the defending champions of FA Cup and they will surely try to keep hold of their title.
The Red Devils are currently undefeated in the Premier League since their 4-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea. Jose Mourinho became the first manager to win a title in his maiden season at United as his side got past a spirited Southampton team 3-2 in the EFL Cup final.
Let us take a look at the 3 players who can make an impact and push United towards a much-needed win.
Ander Herrera
The Spaniard has been a silent hero for the Red Devils. The midfielder has been a vital cog in the United midfield. The central midfielder has been a pivotal part of the United starting lineup and his presence in midfield has allowed Paul Pogba to play his natural game.
He has played 36 matches under Jose Mourinho this season and will play a vital role against Chelsea. N’Golo Kante has been excellent for the Blues and his recent displays have helped Chelsea maintain their dominant run in the Premier League. Herrera will have the task to keep Kante in check.
Anthony Martial
Mourinho can expect a cracker of a performance from Anthony Martial. He has earlier proven what he is capable of and Mourinho will unleash him against his former team. Martial needs to find his rhythm back and this is the perfect platform to showcase his talent.
Luke Shaw
The left-back has spent the most of the season on the sidelines. Shaw featured against Bournemouth in the last match and was pretty good. This is a very important phase in his footballing career and he could seal a permanent spot in the starting lineup if he performs well in the next match.
