Manchester United are right now in the fifth place in the Premier League and a have a really good chance to finish in the top four positions. Jose Mourinho signed the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the last summer but United hasn’t been able to produce that magic that everyone was expecting. With the season coming towards an end, Jose Mourinho has to pick the best starting line up to make sure United finish in a respectable position.
Strongest Manchester United Line-Up To Finish The Season On A High
GK-David De Gea
The United custodian has been the number one choice for Jose Mourinho in the English top tier. His unbelievable reflexes and capability of making point blank saves have made him one of the most wanted goalkeepers in Europe. In fact, in the last season, he was one of the few goalkeepers to save a penalty of Leighton Baines who usually doesn’t miss a spot kick.
RB-Antonio Valencia
Since his arrival in 2009, the Ecuadorian international has been an integral part of the starting lineup. An adapted wingback, Valencia has dominated the right side of the defence this season. Louis Van Gaal used Matteo Darmian in the right back position but Valencia has been preferred by Mourinho for his marauding runs and physique.
Central Back-Eric Bailly
The towering defender was brought in to give the Red Devils solidity in defence and he has so far been very good although the usual settling in issues have been there.
Central Back- Chris Smalling
He has had a decent season so far and has to continue his form
Left back-Luke Shaw
Didn’t have much chance to prove his worth but will be looking forward to playing a vital part in the team. He has a great positioning sense and alongside defensive duties, he can also help the attack with his bombarding runs.
CDM-Michael Carrick
A veteran of many ups and downs. He has been handed a one-year contract extension at the start of this season and time and again has proved his importance. He now lacks a bit of pace but with his slick passing and brilliant game reading, he has complimented the United midfield.
CM-Paul Pogba
The most valuable player in the world is still struggling to find his rhythm in the Premier League. Mourinho has tried him a number of positions but the best position suitable for him is beside Carrick from where he can control the game.
LW-Anthony Martial
One of the promising players in the United side right now. Mourinho hasn’t used him much this season but the French teenager has the potential to deliver the thrust in these last few weeks.
Attacking Midfield-Henrikh Mkhitaryan
His pace and creativity have been the driving force behind United’s form this season. He operates from just behind the striker and finds acres of space by interchanging positions. His form is very crucial to United.
RW-Juan Mata
One of the most consistent players at United. He doesn’t have a great pace but his ability to find the right man is very commendable.
FWD-Zlatan Ibrahimovic
There shouldn’t be a second opinion over his place in the starting lineup.
