This weekend’s topspiel will see Bayern visit the Borussia Park to face their bogey team Borussia Monchengladbach. The record champions have been in great form, of late. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are leading the table by ten points and they will look to extend that figure as the international break comes close. Dieter Hecking’s men, on the other hand, are on the back of a shock defeat against Schalke in midweek’s Europa League fixture.
Here is the predicted Bayern lineup for the big encounter on Sunday evening.
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer as always, will be the man between the sticks for Bayern. The German International captain has been influential from the goalpost. He will need to be at his best against the dangerous Gladbach.
Right Back: Philip Lahm will lead his side from the right back position. The former German International has confirmed his retirement at the end of this season.
Center Back(R): Javi Martinez will start from the right centre back spot. Bayern are unbeaten in their last 14 away games when the Spanish International was included in the lineup.
Center Back(L): Mats Hummels will start alongside Javi Martinez in the centre back spots. The former Dortmund man had an astonishing game last week against Eintracht, arguably making the tackle of the season. He is once again expected to play a key role.
Left Back: David Alaba‘s excellence in the left flank will be another plus point for Carlo Ancelotti. The Austrian left back combines well with the wingers to create chances.
Central Defensive Midfield: Xabi Alonso was livid with the recent Champions League draw. He will face his former club Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. The former Madrid midfielder will look to polish up his performances prior to the encounter next month.
Central Midfield(R): After a sensational hinrunde, Joshua Kimmich has been out of sorts for Bayern this year. Having failed to break into the starting lineup, this will be a great chance for the young German midfielder to prove his worth to the team.
Central Midfield(L): Thiago Alcantara‘s wizardly nature has been a terror for the opposition defences this season. He has completed more passes and interceptions than any Bayern midfielder this season and will once again be crucial as Carlo Ancelotti’s men seek to undo the Gladbach defence.
Right Wing: Arjen Robben has been another success story this season under new boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Dutchman was absolutely sensational under Pep Guardiola but is now, even more, handful ever since Ancelotti arrived at Bayern. A major alert for the Foals’ defence!
Left Wing: Franck Ribery will cause some major concerns for Dieter Hecking’s men. The duo of Robben and Ribery has been on fire this season, amassing a combined total of 11 goals and 13 assists!
Striker: Who else? It can only be Robert Lewandowski! The Polish hitman has already netted 21 goals this season yet he trails Aubameyang by two goals in the top scorer charts. A couple of goals this week will be the perfect dose of excitement!
