After a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage, Leeds United are set to host struggling Queens Park Rangers at the Elland Road this weekend. The Whites are considered as strong promotion hopefuls and after 36 games, Garry Monk’s side are placed 4th on the league table with 65 points to their name.
But they should not start getting complacent going into the business end of the season with the upcoming games set to be pivotal in deciding which 3 teams will finally gain promotion after such a long and arduous season.
Here is our Leeds United’s Predicted line-up against QPR.
Defence
With 12 clean sheets in 36 appearances, Robert Green has emphatically proven that age is just a number for him. The 37-year-old veteran goalkeeper is expected to be stationed between the sticks yet again on Saturday against QPR. Green has stood up tall throughout the season and has ensured that he commands the backline with the experience he has accumulated over the years.
In central defence, we expect the reliable pair of Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley to line up. These two defenders have been extremely reliable and trustworthy whilst discharging their duties and would continue to play a major role in the remaining fixtures.
In the right-back slot, we expect Gaetano Berardi to start the proceedings whereas, on the left, Neil Taylor should be getting a nod to start once again after getting his fitness back recently and starting against the Cottagers on Wednesday.
Midfield
Liam Bridcutt is seemingly likely to be stationed at the centre of the park alongside Ronaldo Vieira, for Kalvin Phillips found himself out of the depth many a time in Leeds United’s last outing and was also shown the red card, implying that he would miss this home game.
Against QPR, at home, Monk would be expecting all three points and thus, it would be important for Bridcutt and Vieira to cushion the backline properly. On the left wing, we expect January transfer window signing, Alfonso Pedreza to start and boss the flank and on the other side, Hadi Sacko’s industry could be seen from the start.
Attack
Chris Wood had tightness in his calf after the Birmingham City game, as a result of which he wasn’t even on the bench against Fulham. It would be foolish on the part of the former Swansea City gaffer to rush him against QPR considering that the season is far from over and any hasty move would dent their credentials of being a playoff contender. Souleymane Doukara should be stationed up front with Kemar Roofe as the No. 10.
