After thumping Paris Saint Germain 6-1 at the Nou Camp, Barcelona will now travel to the Riazor Stadium to keep up the pressure on Real Madrid in their quest for the La Liga title. Luis Enrique’s side might have pulled out the greatest comeback ever in the history of football last night.
Trailing 4-0 from the first leg, the Catalans put in a once in a lifetime performance to rout the French club 6-1 to book a berth in the next round. With the La Liga race still open, they have to capitalise on the current opportunities as any mistake would allow Real Madrid to rise above them in the La Liga table. Los Blancos currently have 59 points from 25 matches while Barcelona have 60 points, albeit playing a match more than Real Madrid.
Luis Enrique has already announced that he is not going to continue after this season. The Spaniard has been criticised for his strategy after the last few results but since then Barcelona have managed to close a six-point gap with Real Madrid and have thus taken the top spot in the La Liga table.
Deportivo are known to be the giant killers. But In the last ten meetings between Barcelona and Deportivo, they haven’t been able to defeat the Catalans. Barcelona thrashed Deportivo 4-0 in the last match and this time also Enrique will be hoping to repeat the scoreline.
Predicted 4-3-3 Barcelona Lineup To Maul Deportivo La Coruna
Defence
Andre Ter Stegen is set to hold his place in the starting lineup. Except for a few incidents here and there, the shot-stopper has been virtually errorless this season.
Jordi Alba will make a comeback to the starting lineup. The full-back was dropped in the crucial second leg tie against PSG but is certain to make to the starting lineup against Deportivo.
Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti are set to renew their partnership in the central defence. Both the defenders have been very impressive in the second leg of the Champions League.
Sergi Roberto will start on the right flank. He scored the winning goal in the last match to send Barcelona to the quarter-final of the Champions League.
Midfield
Sergio Busquets is set to retain his place in the starting eleven and will be in his usual position. Andre Gomes will replace Andres Iniesta as the ageing legs of Iniesta will need some rest. Ivan Rakitic will complete the midfield trio for Barcelona.
Attack
The trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez (MSN) should start upfront. Neymar and Messi will be on the two flanks while the Uruguayan will start as the focal point.
