Leicester City still have a chance to qualify for the next round of the Champions League when they host Sevilla on Tuesday.
Sevilla won the first leg 2-1 with goals from Pablo Sarabia and Joaquin Correa. But Jamie Vardy netted his first Champions League goal to give the Foxes some hope. They have failed horribly to defend their Premier League title this term but in Europe, it’s been a different story altogether for them. After Malaga in 2012/13, Leicester became the second team in the Champions League to top the group in a debut season.
Leicester have managed to pull themselves out from the relegation zone and gave their season in turmoil a stable footing after two back to back wins including a win over mighty Liverpool. The Foxes decided to part ways with Claudio Ranieri who was behind their unbelievable Premier League triumph last season.
His deputy Craig Shakespeare has been handed over the charge of the club for the rest of the season and will have this major task ahead to guide his team to the next round which is quite possible.
However, things won’t be easy for Leicester as Sevilla are currently in pretty good form. The Spanish club also holds the record for winning the Europa League for three consecutive seasons.
Jamie Vardy’s crucial away goal could prove to be a vital factor for the Foxes. Leicester coach has a fully fit squad to choose from.
PREDICTED LEICESTER CITY LINE-UP VS SEVILLA (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel is an automatic choice under the bar. The 30-year-old saved a penalty in the reverse fixture to keep his team in the fight. He missed a brief period of the season due to an injury but has been pretty solid since his return.
Robert Huth and Wes Morgan will be the central defensive pairing. The duo has been far from their last season’s form but have been impressive in recent games.
Christian Fuchs and Danny Simpson will have the responsibility of monitoring the two flanks.
Midfield
The Foxes’ coach is expected not to tweak his midfield set up. Onyinye Ndidi and Danny Drinkwater should start in the midfield. Ndidi has not been able to recall N’Golo Kante’s form but has been pretty good with his performance.
Shinji Okazaki will start just behind Jamie Vardy, in the No. 10 role.
Attack
Marc Albrighton will attack from the left side while Riyad Mahrez should start on the right flank. We can expect some fireworks from the Algerian international.
Jamie Vardy will lead the charge. It was his goal that gave a lifeline to the Foxes in the first leg and he would love to repeat the feat.
