Everton are set to renew their rivalry with Tottenham Hotspur when the two sides come face to face. Tottenham will be coming into the game with a 4-0 thrashing of Stoke City fresh on their minds.
Harry Kane has been in superb form and scored a hat-trick against the Potters. Since losing to Liverpool, Ronald Koeman’s side are currently unbeaten in the last nine matches and will be hoping to extend their run to ten matches. Romelu Lukaku and Kane will go head to head and will have the chance to extend their goal tally.
Everton have recorded the most nil-nils against Spurs in the Premier League era. The last time they faced each other it was a 1-1 stalemate. With 12 games left in the season, Everton still have the chance to finish in the final European place. Both Mauricio Pochettino and Koeman will go for the kill and it is expected to be a cracker of a match.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Everton Lineup To Get Past A Resilient Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Ronald Koeman would be relying on Joel Robles once again. The custodian has put in a decent shift so far for the Merseyside club.
Funes Mori and Ashley Williams will have the task to stop the resurgent Spurs attack led by Harry Kane. Kane is currently the joint top scorer in the Premier League alongside Romelu Lukaku and both the defenders have to be at their best to stop the English international from finding the net.
Leighton Baines is set to fill in at left-back. Since returning from injury the English fullback has thrived under Koeman and is set to start. Seamus Coleman will be on the right side of the defence. The Irish right back has been excellent so far for the Toffees.
Midfield
Koeman is expected to start with two players in the centre of the park to neutralise the Spurs attack. Former Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and Idrissa Gueye will be deployed in the midfield. The French midfielder will have the responsibility to contain Dele Alli who has been very impressive this term.
Koeman is expected to ring in a change in the midfield with James McCarthy set to replace Tom Davies in the starting lineup. McCarthy will have the duty to link up with Lukaku to find a gap in the Spurs defence.
Attack
Ademola Lookman and Ross Barkley will start on both the wings. Lookman has been very promising and looks set to continue on the left flank. Lukaku will be the lone forward and will spearhead the Toffees attack.
