Manager- Jurgen Klopp
When it comes to games against the big opponents of the league, Liverpool’s manager stands shoulder to shoulder with Antonio Conte. The Reds have a brilliant record against the top five and it probably makes them the favourites even away at Etihad Stadium.
Goal-keeper- Willy Caballero
Well, if compared to Simon Mignolet, the 35-year-old has had a decent campaign this season in the little games he has played. He has conceded just 4 goals in 8 league games.
Right-Back- Nathaniel Clyne
The 25-year-old England international has been pretty consistent this season, even when Liverpool were going through the turmoil. His work rate up and down the right flank has been commendable and it is for him that Sadio Mane gets so much liberty up front.
Right Centre-back- Joel Matip
The Cameroon international has been a giant rock for Liverpool this season and whenever he didn’t play, the Reds have looked shaky at the back. His big frame pretty much protects the goal from most set-pieces and his disciplined defending helps Liverpool to attack in a carefree manner.
Left Centre-back- Nicolas Otamendi
Manchester City’s defence has been really poor at times this season with most of the defenders losing the plot repeatedly; except for this Argentine. The centre-half relies on raw strength to win tackles and Real Madrid have their eyes set on him.
Left-Back-James Milner
Despite playing out of position, the England international has been pretty flawless in his newfound role. At 31, Milner has shown most of the full-backs in the league, how it’s done.
Left -Central Midfielder- Kevin De Bruyne
Possibly the best attacking-midfielder in the league at the moment, the Belgian international has been absolutely phenomenal for City. He has provided 11 assists so far and netted four times despite having played in a withdrawn role.
Central Midfielder- Adam Lallana
One of the few Liverpool players, who have been consistent in his game. The midfielder’s pressing game has been tremendously effective and he carries an extra spark in big matches.
Right-Central Midfielder- David Silva
One of the safest pairs of legs in the English Premier League, the Spanish international has a passing accuracy of 87% this season. Though he hasn’t been at his very best so far, there have been glimpses of his magic occasionally.
Left-Wing-Leroy Sane
Sane has been one of City’s most prolific forwards this season. The German kid has adapted to English football fast and has earned a first team place in the squad despite starting as the second choice.
Sadio Mane- Right Wing
Liverpool’s best player on the pitch at the moment, the Senegal international has been a hunter in the D-box. He has scored 12 goals so far, this season from the wings, registering eight assists.
Sergio Aguero- Centre Forward
After the horrendous night at Monaco, Aguero will have to turn on the heat.
