Jamie Vardy vs Adil Rami
Scoring has once again become easy for the Foxes after Craig Shakespeare took over the reins of the club who had lost their way and one of the main reasons for that is the regained confidence of Leicester’s star striker Jamie Vardy. In their shocking win over Liverpool, immediately after their title winning manager, Claudio Ranieri got sacked, the forward was seen in a much-advanced role.
It might just have done the trick for the Foxes. Since the all-important away goal against Sevilla last month, Jamie Vardy, who hadn’t scored or assisted in the seven games prior to that, has been directly involved in three goals in two matches. After the man of the match performance against the Reds, he provided an assist for the equaliser against Hull City last game.
Sevilla’s adamant defending has been their USP this season and their centre-half Adil Rami has played a quintessential part in that. The French international has been an immovable rock for the club and the manager will put his trust on him with the job of stopping Vardy on Tuesday night. The intelligent defender reads the game very well and could provide the best of passes from the deep field, which might be a threat to Leicester’s high-line defending.
Stevan Jovetic vs Robert Huth
The Inter Milan loanee has wasted no time in making an impact since joining Sevilla in January. He has been directly involved in six goals in 10 La Liga appearances and it was his brilliant assist that brought in Sevilla’s second goal against Leicester City in the first leg. He got the only goal for Sevilla last week against Leganes playing centre-forward and must be brimming with confidence.
Jovetic has a big frame and he knows to use it the most efficacious way possible. And the ideal man to cover him will be Leicester’s big man Robert Huth. There is no doubt that the German international can take Jovetic on in every aerial duel, although the 32-year-old’s ageing legs could be a concern on the counter attacks for Shakespeare.
Samir Nasri vs Christian Fuchs
Manager Jorge Sampaoli had opted to rest many of his first team players in their domestic league game last weekend, which even led to dropping points and one of the rested candidates was the Manchester City loanee Samir Nasri. Nasri has been the prime architect for Sevilla on numerous occasions this season and the manager will rely hugely on him to unlock Leicester’s backline on Tuesday.
Leicester will have the experienced Austrian to take care of him. The 30-year-old has been a key player for Leicester’s defence and he has played against Nasri on previous occasions too. Fuchs comes to the match at the back of a goal in their league game against Hull and would be determined to make a point.
