Celtic have been absolutely outstanding in the league so far this term, having collected as many as 79 points in the Ladbrokes Premiership after 27 league games and are well on course to clinch the domestic treble. Victories and merry faces have been a usual affair for the Bhoys and with a 4-1 victory over St. Mirren in the Scottish Cup, they have indeed shown that they can very well be a force to reckon with, not only in Scotland but also on lucrative European nights next season.
Intriguingly, they could win the league title as an invincible side but it is the continuation of such stellar performances in the coming seasons as well which could take the Celts to unchartered territories. With a season bereft of substantially acknowledgeable regrets, the summer transfer window shall hold the key to the whereabouts of Celtic next time around. A lot of clubs are already lining up for the Celts’ latest stars, so it is of paramount importance for Brendan Rodgers & Co. to take proactive measures and make some shrewd deals in the summer.
The Scottish outfits do not possess the financial muscles which the likes of Premier League, La Liga or German Bundesliga sides have the luxury of; so Rodgers might have to dig deeper. But the accustomed face of a certain Welshman in the shape of Joe Ledley should be on the wish-list of the former Liverpool gaffer, and yes, to spice up the scenario, it has to be underlined that his contract with the Eagles expires in the summer.
Ledley is a well-polished midfielder who cushions the backline with ease and professionalism and has more to offer than showcasing his flawless beard or dancing skills. He had plied his trade with the Celtic Park-based troops in the past and has the experience and grit to command the white and green crops’ midfield.
Rodgers isn’t very convinced with Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic and it would be too harsh on the talented youngster in the shape of Kouassi Eboue to be rushed into the first team fold. These imply that Rodgers does need reinforcements and a midfielder with the humungous experience like Ledley certainly fits the bill.
The Welsh international has struggled for game time with Crystal Palace and is seemingly likely to look for an outlet in the summer. He was sold by the Scottish Giants to the Eagles in 2014 to eradicate a bit of their financial stringency then and with a move back to where he inked his name from, Ledley could complete the unfinished business he left in Scotland.
