Manchester United needed a win, at last, to get out of sixth place and to pile up pressure on rivals Arsenal and Liverpool but it wasn’t to be at Old Trafford once again. Cursed? Well, fans might as well say that but it was a hugely frustrating afternoon that was boiling with controversy as minutes went on. Two penalties and a red card only gives us a glimpse of it but the headline would be featuring United again who blew up another significant chance to move ahead in the table.
Marcos Rojo’s first goal for Manchester United looked like it will be a calm afternoon with quality football but Bournemouth got back after Phil Jones conceded a penalty and former United player King slotted it home. Jose’s men missed uncountable chances and that would surely be filled with regret right now.
The Best & The Worst Manchester United Players Rated From Their Draw Vs Bournemouth
GK: David De Gea – 6/10
Hardly had anything to do. Couldn’t do much for the penalty because it was struck wonderfully by King.
RB: Antonio Valencia – 6.5/10
Not productive in the final third but beastly in terms of work rate again as he marched up and down the pitch trying to help his team’s cause. Got assist for Rojo’s goal, though.
CB: Phil Jones – 5/10
Rash today unlike his usual self of this season. Conceded a silly penalty and made decisions very early at times in the second half. Rusty.
CB: Marcos Rojo – 6.5/10
Got into a good position and scored his first goal, looked firm in his decisions at the back and did a decent job.
LB: Luke Shaw – 6/10
Hardly convincing, isn’t scared of putting himself into physical challenges. Needs to perform way better to cement his place.
CM: Michael Carrick – 7/10
Held the ball effectively, played some brilliant passes ahead to carve open Bournemouth and retrieved the ball back time and again. A very good performance overall for him individual wise.
CM: Paul Pogba – 4/10
Fancy stuff gets you nowhere in football. Missed easy passes, stuffed huge chances as the game was ending. Very very poor.
CAM: Wayne Rooney – 6/10
Tried but couldn’t do anything much to help the team. Mediocre.
RM: Juan Mata – 6/10
Probably another player who tried hard to link up and create something so that United lead but again end product and finishing were a letdown.
LM: Anthony Martial – 6.5/10
Threatening every time he rummaged down the left but a huge let down in terms of finishing or crossing.
ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic – 3/10
Lucky to be on the pitch, surrounded by controversy, a missed penalty that has caused the team dearly. It just wasn’t his day.
