West Bromwich Albion might not have piled themselves up as an outfit good enough to challenge for a European spot, but they have definitely been a consistently performing side with most of their players clicking when it mattered. After 29 games in the Premier League, Tony Pulis’ men find themselves in a very solid position, owing to the fact that they are placed 8th on the league table with 43 points to their name.
On the other side of the coin, however, rests an entirely different story. The Throstles might have been pretty professional in maintaining their stature and blockbuster wins like the one against Arsenal last weekend have helped them to up their ante, but some of their players have let down the club this season and here are three such players.
3 West Bromwich Albion Players Who Have Failed To Amaze This Season
Salomon Rondon
To take a side to a significant pedestal, any club would want their main attacking weapon to unleash and bang goals left right and centre to take the opposition on the back foot. Sadly, Salomon Rondon has failed to a notable extent this campaign to make his presence felt, particularly of late.
The 27-year-old striker has scored merely 7 goals this campaign in the Premier League despite being a trusted man up front and more intriguingly, he hasn’t found the back of the net in his last 14 games.
James McClean
Despite being used on the attacking midfielder on the left many a time by Pulis, James McClean has been a massive letdown this season. With merely 1 goal and 2 assists to account for, the Irish international might boast of a scintillating work-ethic but his end product has left a lot to be desired from him.
Further, McClean has been unable to contribute much defensively as well and his sporadic form hasn’t helped him regain his credentials.
Ben Foster
Having garnered merely 5 clean sheets from 28 appearances this season for the Baggies, Ben Foster hasn’t met the West Brom fans’ expectations. The 33-year-old goalie has been a victim of a lot of self-inflicted errors and looking back at what has transpired for him this season, even he would not refrain from admitting that he could have done a lot better than what he actually did.
Leaking 1.29 goals on an average isn’t a very good data for a shot-stopper who was seen with a lot of admiration and hope which he, arguably, failed to cater to.
