The arrival of Ronald Koeman has worked wonders for Everton so far this season as the club is chasing a top six position in the Premier League which will confirm their participation in the Europa League next season. Despite their dominance in the Premier League this season, a number of the Everton players have been linked with a number of clubs with the latest being Ross Barkley. The Merseyside club have somehow reenergized themselves this season and would definitely try to get maximum points from the remaining fixtures to stay in the hunt for a European berth.
3 Players Who Could Leave Everton At The End Of This Season
Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian hotshot has been the centre of attraction since he rejected a new contract. With a whole host of clubs especially Chelsea and Manchester United reigniting their interest in the player, it would be very difficult for Everton to keep him at the club. Everton have already started lining up possible replacements for the Belgian and have targeted Giovanni Simeone of Genoa and Anthony Modeste of Cologne. Simeone happens to be the son of the current Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.
Lukaku is right now the joint highest scorer in the Premier League alongside Harry Kane and although Ronald Koeman is confident of retaining the player it seems very likely that Lukaku will be off at the end of this season.
Ross Barkley
Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to sign this playmaker. He has been recalled to the England squad for the games against Germany and Lithuania after his blistering form in the recent run of games. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is an avid admirer of the Everton academy product and had tried to entice the player before.
Should Barkley leave his boyhood club for Spurs, he will likely be deployed in the position of Moussa Sissoko who has been in disastrous form since his signing for Spurs from Newcastle United. Barkley is in the final year of his contract and a move could be in the offing in the summer.
Phil Jagielka
The 34-year-old defender has struggled for game time this season with Koeman preferring Ramiro Funes Mori and Ashley Williams at the heart of the Toffees defence. He still has two or three years of football left in him and David Moyes was very keen to rope him at the Stadium Of Light.
He needs to be in some club like Sunderland where he could use his influence and experience to bring the best out of him. His future is currently uncertain and if a suitable offer comes along, Everton might consider selling him.
