Liberty outfit Swansea City are currently the closest team to the relegation zone that is safe. The losses to Bournemouth and Hull City in the last two games have put a dent in their chances to evade the relegation scrap at the end of the campaign. They will play some tough teams from now till the end of the season and though they have quality in the squad, they could well end up having to win games at the end of the season to ensure survival.
They are currently in the 17th place, just three points off the drop zone and there is every chance that they may not be able to make it come the end of the season. Swansea City are sure to lose their star player to better clubs if they go down and here are two such players who will quit the Liberty Stadium if Swansea are relegated.
2 Players That Could Leave Swansea City If They Are Relegated This Season
Fernando Llorente:
The top goal scorer for the Swans this season, Llorente only joined the Liberty outfit at the start of the season. However, he remains the most effective player for Paul Clement’s side, making 26 appearances in the Premier League and scoring 11 goals and lifting his side from the drop zone.
He is an experienced player who has played at the highest level and has already been linked with an exit with Antonio Conte keen on a reunion of sorts at the Stamford Bridge.
At 32, he will not want to play in the Championship and should leave the Liberty Stadium if Swansea gets relegated. And surely, there will be no shortage of suitors for him in the summer.
Gylfi Sigurdsson:
The second most influential player for the Swans this season has been the Iceland international Gylfi Sigurdsson. The 27-year old attacking midfielder has been one of the most consistent players in his position in England this season and his return of nine goals and 11 assists in all competitions, makes him one of the best playmakers in the league at the moment.
He has been at the Liberty Stadium from 2014 and has made close to 100 first team appearances but if Paul Clement fails to keep Swansea up, Sigurdsson might be one of the first players to quit in search of a better club. Reaching his prime as a footballer in the next couple of years, Sigurdsson will want to play at the highest level and his form will see a number of Premier League clubs move for him in the summer.
