Although a conclusion is far from our reach in the Premier League just yet, match-week 25 could lead to some interesting turn of events in the table. Here are the 3 things to watch out for this weekend.
Will Tottenham Hotspur bottle it?
With arch rivals Arsenal playing in the early kick-off against bottom dwellers, the Lilywhites have every chance to see themselves start the crucial fixture against Liverpool from the third position. While on paper and recent form, Mauricio Pochettino’s men look way superior to the Reds, Jurgen Klopp has his special way around the top teams in the league, as we have previously seen this season.
A win at Anfield will be a massive statement by Spurs. And all eyes would be on the game to see whether the North Londoners bottle it yet again. Although given their recent record, Spurs have every chance to falter in this fixture. Apart from the fact that their away form has been dismal, which saw them even failing to beat Sunderland two weeks back at the Stadium of Light, Liverpool hold an impressive record against them. The Reds are on an eight-game unbeaten run against Spurs in the league with Spurs losing 15 of their last 24 Premier League visits to Anfield. Considering the way the two teams play, expect it to be a pressing and end to end game.
Hull City the next giant killers?
New manager, Marco Silva, is doing wonders with a struggling side that he took charge over, in the midseason. Since January, the Tigers have had some quality players arriving at KCOM stadium, they are very close to moving out of the relegation zone and they have defeated the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool in different competitions. While they were really unlucky not to get anything despite their impressive display against Chelsea, Arsenal could fall prey to their determined approach.
The Gunners have been pathetic in their last two games proving that any team willing to physically unsettle their composed playing style holds an upper hand over them. Silva has previously won at Emirates with his former club Olympiakos and we won’t be surprised if he does it again with Hull City.
Will Sunderland finally escape the bottom three?
Crippled by injuries, bad form and financial crisis, David Moyes’ Sunderland have still produced some incredible displays this season. And it might finally pay off if they manage to overcome the challenge of a fraught Southampton side this weekend. Their emphatic win over Palace last week has given them a realistic chance to make things right and they sure will leave no stone unturned in trying to achieve it.
