Rangers have been in all sorts of trouble this season, right from their failure to go toe-to-toe with Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in the Ladbrokes Premiership to assembling themselves as a formidable side under the managerial era of Mark Warburton who is no longer at the club. Their form, particularly of late, has reduced them to tatters as they have managed merely one win in their last six league outings.
With 43 points from their 26 games, the Gers are 33 points behind the Bhoys which perfectly sums up their pathetic season. To worsen the scenario, Warburton ended his association with the club and many players in their ranks might be tempted to leave the club owing to one reason or the other.
Here are three players who might prefer to leave once the summer transfer window reopens.
Phillipe Senderos
Former Arsenal star, Phillipe Senderos arrived at the Ibrox Stadium in the summer in order to cater to the central defensive needs of the Gers under the tutelage of Warburton, who was desperate to beef his defensive line. However, his debut started in a very inauspicious manner as he was sent off in Rangers’ horrible 5-1 loss at the hands of their arch rivals, Celtic, and it has only gone downhill for the Swiss international ever since.
His pace and constant lack of positional awareness have been diluting his reputation and having struggled to fit into the system of the Scottish outfit, it is expected that he would be shipped out at the end of the ongoing campaign.
Matt Crooks
Matt Crooks was bound to be shipped out on loan in the January transfer window and exactly the same transpired. The 23-year-old made merely 3 appearances for the Glasgow-based outfit ever since his move from Accrington and was eventually sent to Scunthorpe last month but with the jam-packed midfield of the Light Blues, it is quite hard to see him in their first-team plans next season and could be looking for an outlet in the summer.
Lee Hodson
Another summer signing who has been substantially overlooked is Lee Hodson, who was signed from MK Dons. The Northern Ireland international has seen opportunities hard to come by owing to the consistency of the undisputed first choice right-back, James Tavernier.
The 25-year-old, at this point of his career, must be playing on a regular basis owing to the qualities he possesses and we shouldn’t be awestruck if he makes a move from the Ibrox Stadium before his career starts to stagnate.
