A supercomputer has predicted the final Championship table and according to the machine, Newcastle United and Brighton will finish in the top two place which means they will be the two teams who will be playing in the Premier League next season.
Leeds United who are having a tremendous season will finish at the sixth position, i.e, a place to earn a playoff berth. They last finished in the playoff in 2006 and lost to Watford in the play-off final. They got relegated from the Premier League in 2004 and their dream to play in the Premier League once again can be fulfilled provided the next couple of months goes smoothly.
The most surprising thing in the list is Aston Villa. The Lions got relegated from the Premier League last season alongside Newcastle United and if everything goes right they will be staying in the Championship as the Super computer has predicted the 13th finish for them. Aston Villa spent heavily in the winter transfer window bringing seven players to the club but that doesn’t change their fortune. They haven’t won their last six matches and have suffered four back to back defeats.
Leeds United have been the surprise package of this year. Garry Monk’s side have uplifted their form although the last few results haven’t gone their way. Leeds suffered consecutive losses against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City but got back to winning ways against Bristol City with a 2-1 slender win. However, their breakthrough season got another block as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town. The Whites will take on Sheffield Wednesday in the Yorkshire Derby on Sunday in a crucial encounter.
The Magpies are currently in second place in 66 points although they have a match in hand. They have lost seven matches this season but four of them came at the St James Park. Rafa Benitez has to be very cautious as any error in the upcoming days would be a major setback for them.
Well, as any Leeds United fan can tell you, fingers crossed that this is proved correct as from there a promotion is anyone’s game. Garry Monk is certainly a brilliant young manager and I certainly would not bet against him not getting the job done.
