Ryan Giggs has compared Zlatan Ibrahimović to Manchester United legend Eric Cantona. Ibrahimović scored his 24th goal of the season as United shrugged off Blackburn’s challenge to cruise to the quarterfinal of FA Cup.
There had been much confusion when the lanky Swede arrived at Old Trafford at the start of the season. The 35-year-old brushed aside all his critics since his arrival as he has emerged as the top scorer for the Red Devils.
Zlatan scored his first hat-trick against St. Etienne as United got an edge over the French team with a 3-0 win in the two-legged affair. Cantona showed some similar work ethic when he arrived from Leeds in 1992. He helped United to win the first Premier League title under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Giggs believes the two are kind of similar in making an impact at United, “I think there’s similarities because of that confidence they have in their own ability and the goals that they have scored.
“It didn’t faze Eric or Ibrahimović coming to United and being the No. 1 player. Even when they are playing well and getting all the adoration, they don’t get carried away.
“It’s their job and you can see that he is a good professional, he is always fit and at his age to play centre-forward and to produce the goals he is producing is unbelievable.”
