The transfer window is done and dusted as the sides will now look forward to the remainder of the season with what they have at their disposal. Leeds United are pretty much in the scheme of things for the contention of bagging a ticket back to the Premier League.
Garry Monk and his troops are poised at the 4th place in the league table at the moment with 51 points after 28 outings in a campaign, it would not be wrong to say that they have exceeded their yardsticks.
The transfer window hasn’t been a huge one for the Peacocks, but they have pulled a couple of deals (excluding an extension) to fortify their squad and to solve a tweak or two. How do their new faces rate as per our perspective? We have compiled a brief anecdote of the same to throw some light on their recent activities. Have a look.
Pablo Hernandez (8/10)
Hernandez was signed in the summer on loan from Rayo Vallecano, and he had been a shrewd signing for the first six months or so. The 31-year-old forward has been signed on a permanent deal which would keep him at the Elland Road for the remainder of the season after having a good spell in the first 6 months or so.
Out of 18 league appearances, he has bagged 3 goals, 5 assists and created 50 chances and Monk was very quick to extend his stay. It has to be elucidated as a very good deal by Leeds United to keep their attacking arsenal in a good shape with the sense of cohesiveness being intact.
Alfonso Pedraza (8/10)
The Villarreal winger is arguably their best signing, albeit on loan. Pedraza is likely to pave his way straight into Monk’s team on the left wing role, for his pace, red-hot form, experience and goal-oriented gameplay will suit the Whites and he should come handy in the crunch fixtures to come.
Modou Barrow (8/10)
Barrow’s loan move from the Liberty Stadium was an eleventh-hour signing to bolster the forward line. Nonetheless, signing a Premier League attacker who creates bundles of chances and plays a quite eye-catchy football shouldn’t be underestimated any day, considering his blistering pace, relentless willingness to run at the defenders and go past them. The Ecuadorian had fallen out of favour at Paul Clement’s outfit but is still a valued asset in the game without any doubt.
Overall rating of transfer ins: 8/10
