After a scintillating 3-0 win over Leicester City in their last Premier League assignment, Manchester United will go into a weekend fixture against Watford with an excellent chance to finally go higher in the table after spending what seemed like an eternity in the 6th spot. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur face off against each other and United fans will be hoping for a positive result for Spurs as they look to heap more misery on Jurgen Klopp’s side who have been atrocious this year.
United will be looking to exact revenge on the Hornets after the latter had defeated them sensationally back at Vicarage Road where the scoreline read 3-1 in favour of the home team. But United are a different team now and have gelled magnificently since that early phase. The likes of Pogba and Mkhitaryan are looking good and settled while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been banging in goals for fun.
But Watford will be up for the challenge and although the odds are heavily tilted towards Manchester United with the game being at Old Trafford, the recent form of the Hornets will give Mazzarri some hope. They are undefeated in their last 4 and are on a 2-match winning streak with one of the wins coming against Arsenal.
PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED LINE-UP VS WATFORD (4-3-3)
DEFENCE
David De Gea will be in goal and will be an overwhelming favourite to keep a clean sheet. True to his reputation, he has again been their saviour on a number of occasions this season and will play a vital part in their quest for a Top 4 spot. Valencia is now the undisputed right-back and will play accordingly. The central defensive pairing might see a change with Jones injured and Rojo rated a doubt. Bailey has again been impressive upon his comeback and will be partnered by Smalling who will look to win back his starting spot. Darmian is likely to play at left-back.
MIDFIELD
The 3-man midfield has worked well for Mourinho and he is likely to continue with that formation although he employed a double pivot against Leicester City. In that case, Carrick is likely to sit in the holding midfield position and he will be partnered by Pogba and Herrera who will be in slightly advanced positions.
ATTACK
Mkhitaryan and Mata’s displays in the last match will ensure their starting spots remain safe and the duo is likely to line up on either flank and the focal point of the attack will be Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
