Hull City will resume their Premier League run after a much-needed hiatus after facing Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal in back-to-back games. And Marco Silva did a brilliant job in collecting four points from those fixtures. The Tigers have found a renewed vigour under the new boss and given their recent displays, the relegation battling side look set for a mid-table finish now.
They next face Burnley at the KCOM Stadium and considering the atrocious away form, Sean Dyche’s men have been in, Silva will fancy three points from the upcoming game. Hull now sit in the 18th position in the league table, just one point below Leicester City and a win here is likely to pull them out of the relegation zone.
Under the new manager, Hull City’s form has been outstanding. They have played three against Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool; and barring the stalemate against United they won the other two. While the last fixture ended 1-1 at Turf Moor, this one definitely sees Hull as the favourites.
Predicted Hull City XI against Burnley
Defence
Hull City gave away two scrappy goals against Arsenal in the last game and despite showing glimpses of a compact backline, they were easily split open at times. Eldin Jakupovic is expected to start under the bar. He couldn’t do much about the goals in the last fixture and will be expecting a better game this time.
The two-week break has definitely helped Silva in getting his team get back into the perfect mindset as well as fitness. The left back’s role will be taken by Andrew Robertson and the right-back’s position is likely to be taken by new signing Omar Elabdellaoui.
Silva is expected to stick with the combination of youth and experience- Harry Maguire alongside new Inter loanee Andrea Ranocchia. Skipper Michael Dawson is currently sidelined with a calf injury at the moment and Silva missed his experience in their last game.
Midfield
Alfred N’Diaye is expected to take his place in the attacking midfield, once again. The Villarreal loanee has been impressive since joining Hull on loan and although he couldn’t make any real difference against Arsenal, his agility gives Hull a different dimension while attacking.
We expect Evandro Goebel to start alongside him in the advanced midfield role. With Sam Clucas red-carded, the former FC Porto man should take his place. Tom Huddlestone should start in the pivot.
Attack
Kamil Grosicki is expected to start on the left-flank with Lazar Markovic on the right side. Abel Hernandez has been sidelined with an injury yet again and Everton loanee Oumar Niasse is expected to continue up front.
Grosciki – Niasse – Markovic
N’Diaye – Huddlestone – Evandro
Robertson – Maguire – Ranochia – Elabdellaoui
