Steven Gerrard is set to make his return to Anfield when Liverpool Legends takes on Real Madrid Legends on March 25.
This will be the first time for Gerrard at Anfield since he last played in November 2016. Gerrard was appointed as the academy coach of Liverpool earlier this month and after hanging up his boots.
He will be alongside with a host of former players with the likes of Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Gary McAllister, Luis Garcia, Daniel Agger, Patrik Berger, Jerzy Dudek, Stephane Henchoz, Jason McAteer, Vladimir Smicer, David Thompson, Sander Westerveld, John Aldridge, John Arne Riise, Phil Babb and Jamie Carragher.
Robbie Fowler will be captaining the Reds side. Gerrard said, “I’m really looking forward to playing in the LFC Foundation legends charity match. Anfield will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s a real honour to be sharing the pitch with such a great team of legends whilst raising money for the club’s official charity.”
