Former Chelsea player Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has termed Diego Costa as the best striker in the Premier League this season. The Spaniard has so far found the net 15 times this season.
Chelsea have been relying on the forward heavily as the Blues attack depends heavily on the player. He hasn’t scored in the last four matches but that hasn’t been a problem for the West London side who have maintained their position at the top.
Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku are the only two players who have scored more goals than the 28-year-old. Costa’s was the subject of a big offer from China but is expected to sign a new contract to keep himself at the Stamford Bridge for further few more years.
Jimmy said, “Always as a striker you get those little spells where you don’t score.
“You have to look at the attributes, at the amount of work he does and how much he creates.
“He’s missed a penalty [against Liverpool] but that can happen. For me, pound-for-pound he’s the best striker at the moment in the Premier League.”
