Everton have moulded themselves into highly functioning machinery under the regime of their new gaffer in the shape of Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman’s arrival has taken the club by storm as he bettered his already excellent reputation which he garnered during his Southampton days. In a very short span of time, Koeman has transformed an underperforming team like Everton into a well-oiled outfit and getting him as the manager has arguably been one of the best activities which the Toffees have done in the recent years.
Everton find themselves in a very touching distance of the European spots and although one might prefer to bet that they would conclude this season on the 7th spot, what has emerged from their pattern so far in their new era is that they shall not be content with mediocrity. Koeman isn’t likely to shy away from venturing into sensational endeavours to amend his side’s remaining tweaks in the summer transfer window and one of the names he reported to be particularly interested in luring him to the Goodison Park is that of Hamburger SV’s youngster Walace.
Signed in the January transfer window of this campaign, Walace has drawn a lot of admirers in the blink of an eye. The Brazilian international earned his name whilst plying his trade as an anchorman for Brasileiro Séie A side Grȇmio. The 21-year-old isn’t a defensive midfielder who would just sit back and absorb the attacks from the opponents. Instead, he is a midfielder who drives the team forward and dominates the centre of the pitch. He toils meticulously, covering every blade of the grass, is an excellent athlete and his tall and well-built structure makes him a juicy prospect for any top quality side.
Moreover, he is calm and composed, is equipped with enough resilience to cover the backline and has a technical edge to his game as well and no wonders why the Merseyside club have put his under scrutiny. Everton have entered a phase where they should be looking forward to building a core team to battle with English powerhouses for the Champions League spots and Walace would be a fine addition to the club.
Importantly, he isn’t going to cost sky-high and thus, the splurge to make him put the pen to the paper prior to the commencement of next season isn’t an aberration. He kicked off his Hamburger SV career in a spectacular fashion by banging a goal against high-flying RB Leipzig last week. Everton should tempt Hamburger to strike a deal and with the financial muscle a Premier League club possesses, it would be hard for Die Rothosen to deny, should the right amount is being forked out.
