In a game which involved a side sitting at the top of the league table of the Scottish Premiership and an outfit who are bottom, nothing sensation or the likes would have been expected at the onset. The game barely begged to differ, as Celtic and Brendan Rodgers were all smiles once again as they defeated Hamilton Academical FC by two goals without a reply, thanks to a brace from Moussa Dembele. Here are our Celtic player ratings from their latest 2-0 win at the Celtic Park on Saturday.
Craig Gordon 5/10
The Bhoys’ goalie was more of a spectator than a guardian between the sticks as barely anything substantial came from Hamilton’s offensive endeavours to haunt him.
Christian Gamboa 7/10
Silenced the visiting side quite well down the right but wasn’t too active in blistering forward from the right. Not a bad day at the office though.
Erik Sviatchenko 7/10
Very few challenges did Sviatchenko have to endure at the heart of Rodgers’ defence but then, he catered to his duty very neatly.
Dedryck Boyata 7/10
Boyata registered a good game under his belt as he broke down Hamilton’s attacks with some notable precision.
Kieran Tierney 8/10
With every outing, Tierney is proving that he is meant for great things. Another spectacular show from him as his attacking prowess and defensive solidity were perfectly balanced. The youngster drove the side forward from the left-hand side in a meticulous manner.
Nir Bitton 8/10
Another weekend of action and another sound display by Bitton. The Israel international commanded Celtic’s ship from the middle of the park, knitting the side together with his passes and key interceptions.
Scott Brown 8/10
There is an aura of class in Brown which makes him a highly-valued commodity in the top tier of Scottish football. He ran tirelessly and breezed past the holding midfielders and defenders with ease.
Stuart Armstrong 7/10
Not the best of his outings but not bad either to make the oil his engine. Armstrong was instrumental in many attacking pursuits of the home side.
James Forrest NA
An injury forced him out of the game very early. Very limited glimpses to pen down a verdict.
Scott Sinclair 8/10
Energetic, industrious and outstandingly charismatic, Sinclair outclassed Hamilton’s backline with relative ease. It’s so soothing to see him in such a fine nick.
Moussa Dembele 8/10
Martin Canning’s defence did make it tough for Dembele in the initial stages but the floodgates were eventually opened by the hitman. A scintillating individual effort to grab the lead followed by a second from the penalty spot from him took the game away from the Accies.
Substitutes
Gary Mackay-Steven 7/10
Mackay was brought in owing to an injury to Forrest. Surged the team forward and filled into the role very well.
Leigh Griffiths 5/10
Replaced Dembele. Kept the Hamilton defenders busy.
Callum McGregor NA
McGregor was thrown in with merely 5 minutes left.
