Tottenham Hotspur successfully put to rest their disappointing European campaign where they crashed out midweek with a brilliant win over Stoke City. A totally one-sided match as could be expected from Spur’s home record this season.
The Best And Worst Tottenham Hotspur Players Rated In Their Win Over Stoke City
Hugo Lloris (8/10)- After a disappointing midweek performance, the French international was at his very best against Stoke City. Although Spurs bulldozed the Potters throughout most of the game, Lloris had to make a brilliant save from Peter Crouch.
Eric Dier (7.5/10)- Hardly had set a foot wrong throughout the game and although Stoke City couldn’t worry him much, his discipline made it all the more difficult for them.
Toby Alderweireld (8/10)– There is no question regarding his composure on the ball. An assured presence at the back, Alderweireld’s display helps others go all out in the attack.
Jan Vertonghen (8/10)- It is very difficult to understand Tottenham Hotspur’s voodoo in the European platform this season. With this duo in the defence, they can see out most attacks across the world. An easy game for the centre-half, who was up for the task.
Kyle Walker (8.5/10)- He was tremendous on that right flank. His transition from defence to the offence and vice versa was seamless and his work-rate phenomenal. No wonder big European clubs are working to land him. He was always a huge threat for Stoke City’s defence.
Victor Wanyama (8/10)- He was in beast mode in Spurs’ midfield. Any attempt of making an attack was bombed down by this defensive midfielder high in the middle of the park.
Mousa Dembele (8/10)- He was mesmerising from the anchor position and orchestrated most moves for Tottenham Hotspur. He was unpredictable and at times untouchable; probably one of his best performances for Spurs.
Ben Davies (7.5/10)- A decent performance by him. He didn’t look to fill Danny Rose’ shoes but was himself. Although less defending allowed him more space to express himself and it was not a real challenge for him today, he looked reliable.
Christian Eriksen (8.5/10)- Yet another beautiful display from Spurs’ technician. Got two assists and is in hot form at the moment. He looks capable of just anything at the moment.
Dele Alli (8.5/10)- After a horrific display in the midweek, Alli wasted no time getting back into the groove. Had a crucial goal just before half time and was productive throughout the match showing why Real Madrid want him so badly.
Harry Kane (9/10)- Easily the most in-form striker in the Premier League at the moment. Yet another hat-trick early in the game to put the result beyond any doubt for the visitors. He was at his clinical best.
