Aberdeen’s late comeback against Kilmarnock helped them move six points ahead of Rangers in second place of the Scottish Premiership table prior to the latter’s away trip to Dens Park to encounter Dundee F.C. this afternoon. Gers, unbeaten in previous 19 meetings, were confident about snatching three away points in order to assure a top three finish and ensure a place in Europe for next campaign. However, things turned out to be the complete opposite as Graeme Murty’s men suffered a shambolic 2-1 defeat against the home side and suffered a major setback to recoup the second spot.
The Best And The Worst Rangers Players Rated From Their Shocking Defeat Vs Dundee
Wes Foderingham
Rating: 5.5
The English custodian had a mixed afternoon. He was uncomfortable with punches and fumbled with clearings. Should have done a lot better in Dundee’s second goal. Pulled off a great save with his feet to deny Craig Wighton the chance to extend the lead late into the second half.
James Tavernier
Rating: 6.5
The right fullback was good going forward and kept things under control while defending. Made a few good crosses also had a decent effort on goal in the second half which was tipped over by Dundee custodian.
Rob Kiernan
Rating: 5
The centre-back had a poor outing as he failed to lead his backline after Hill’s departure and was exposed repeatedly. Made a few blocks and interceptions but failed to contain the pacey Mark O’Hara when Dundee scored their opening goal.
Clint Hill
Rating: 5
The veteran had a knock early in the game and was subbed off at around 30th-minute mark as a precaution. Did his best to hold the defense firm after conceding but could have done more in O’Hara’s goal.
Lee Hodson
Rating 4
Had an awful evening. Failed to make noteworthy attacking contributions as well as defensive duties. Most of Dundee’s moves originated from his side.
Andy Halliday
Rating: 6
Halliday tried to link up well with his attackers and guided a few decent crosses and through passes. Could have done better to screen his backline during the first half. Was replaced by Jason Holt with 12 minutes remaining.
Emerson Hyndman
Rating: 6
The young American did well to break a number of counter attacks and worked tirelessly. Laid-off a golden opportunity for skipper Miller whose deflected effort was denied by the post.
Barrie McKay
Rating: 6.5
Most impressive Rangers’ player this afternoon who kept Dundee defense on toes with his pace, dribbling, and trickery. Looked fatigued and worn off late into the game and was replaced by Harry Forrester with 12 minutes remaining.
Joe Garner
Rating: 6.5
The attacker failed to direct Tavernier’s cross into the net during the first half but pulled one back at around 62nd-minute mark after picking up on the edge of the box and guiding a shot into the bottom right corner. Also nodded down Waghorn’s cross for Forrester who wasted the opportunity.
Kenny Miller
Rating: 5.5
Could have scored the equalizer if his effort had not struck the post. Had an average outing otherwise and was well contained by a disciplined Dundee backline.
Martyn Waghorn
Rating: 5
Was largely unnoticed throughout. Although made a few good crosses and linked up well with a few late movements, the Englishman failed to do anything spectacular to avoid a defeat.

Danny Wilson
Rating: 5.5
Made a few blocks, tackles and clearances since his arrival. But he fouled O’Hara dangerously at the right edge of the box and suffered the consequences when Kevin Holt doubled the lead from the resulting free-kick.
