Bayern Munich once again found a way to sneak a point in the final stages of the game. Hertha’s industrious qualities propelled them to a 1:0 lead through all but the final minute of the game. Robert Lewandowski’s late equalizer shattered the heart of all the 75 thousand Berliners in the Olympiastadion on Saturday.
The BEST And The WORST Bayern Munich Players Rated In Their Stalemate Vs Hertha
Manuel Neuer (7/10): Following an excellent performance against Arsenal, the German international failed to continue his good form. Although he would have expected much better from his defense, he should have dealt with Vedad Ibisevic at the near post for the goal.
Philip Lahm (8/10): Lahm was very good on the buildup phases and had smart movements and passing. Completed the most number of passes(102) than any other player on the field. He was also influential in defense, as he snuffed out numerous attacks from Hertha.
Mats Hummels (7/10): It was a fairly tough afternoon for Mats Hummels. The attacking firepower of Hertha kept the former Dortmund captain, busy for the entirety of the game. He made a goal-saving tackle to deny Vedad Ibisevic bursting through on goal.
David Alaba (7.5/10): Started as a center back and formed a solid partnership with Mats Hummels. Made three key interceptions and was largely solid at the back for Bayern Munich, apart from some nervy moments.
Juan Bernat (7/10): He has been consistently proving out to be a great backup for Bayern Munich, however, it was not his best of performances against Hertha.
Bernat lacked the accuracy of the final ball, eventually ruining some good runs out wide. A way out of Bayern could be a good idea for the Spanish fullback.
Arturo Vidal (7/10): Failed to provide supremacy in the middle of the pitch. Vidal struggled to deal with Hertha’s midfield dynamos such as Vladimir Darida and Per Skjelbred. He was subbed off in the 60th minute for Xabi Alonso.
Joshua Kimmich (7.5/10): Offered some decent passes in the final third along with good positioning but as Carlo Ancelotti became desperate for finding the equalizer, the young German midfielder was subbed off at the hour mark for striker Robert Lewandowski.
Arjen Robben (7/10): Wasn’t able to spill his magic and vigour on the right flank as we’ve become accustomed to. Hertha always had the measure of him. Especially, Marvin Plattenhardt kept the Dutch Winger in his pocket throughout the game.
Thiago Alcantara (7/10): Thiago was another player who failed to continue his fiery performance against the Gunners in midweek. He was the most dispossessed player on the field, as he got shrugged off the ball five times! He also miscued a number of passes in the final third.
Douglas Costa (6.5/10): He was inconsistent throughout the game, especially with his crossing. As a result, he struggled to dominate the flanks. It was perhaps his worst performance for Bayern Munich this season.
Thomas Muller (6.5/10): Made the starting lineup ahead of in-form striker Robert Lewandowski but failed to make an impression. Made just 44 touches and was ruled offside three times. He really needs to find his scoring boots if he is to survive in this Bayern lineup.
Substitutes
Xabi Alonso (6.5/10): After replacing Arturo Vidal, the former Real Madrid man failed to keep up with the pace of the game. Getting involved in some untidy and rash challenges.
Kingsley Coman (7/10): Had just nine touches after coming on for Bernat in the 75th minute. However, he was one who drew the foul which led to the leveler.
Robert Lewandowski (7.5/10): Basically played the role of savior for Bayern as he rescued a point in the final minutes of the game. His scoring tally has now increased to 16, just one behind leader Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
