Arsenal moved up to the 3rd spot in the table after another controversial win saw them finish with a 2-0 scoreline and 3 invaluable points. All these points will matter and some of the teams will be thinking what they need to do to get so much of the rub of the green going their way. This has been Arsenal’s 2nd goal via an inadvertent handball but with the referee failing to spot it, there is nothing much that can be done about it.
Another commendable Hull display went to waste as they could not get back into the match and even though it was not one-sided, Arsenal got out of it as winners.
Let us take a look at how the Arsenal players performed.
CECH- 6.5/10
Made some fine saves to deny Niasse either side of half-time but was jittery with the ball at his feet. Needs a couple of good games to get rid of his nerves.
BELLERIN- 6/10
Got into some good positions going forward but could not always make it count. Not the most consistent display from the Spaniard.
KOSCIELNY- 7/10
Covered well for Mustafi on a number of occasions. Was not an easy game by any means, though.
MUSTAFI- 6/10
Caught out of position every now and then but otherwise was solid enough.
GIBBS- 5/10
Outpaced by Markovic on too many occasions. Difficult match and was lucky not to get sent off.
COQUELIN- 6.5/10
Broke up play well but gave away a couple of needless fouls. Could have contributed a bit more going forward.
CHAMBERLAIN- 7/10
An awesome run on the hour mark left Hull on the back foot and should have led to a goal. Looked comfortable in a central role this time around. Would have given confidence to Wenger with the display.
OZIL- 4/10
Another disappearing act by the German. He looks a shadow of his usual self and needs to step things up now. Or the talks of a new contract will head in the opposite direction now.
IWOBI- 5.5/10
Another display with the same issues. Lack of final product and poor decision making. Needs to be far more clinical and assertive.
WALCOTT- 6.5/10
A frustrating afternoon for the England international as not a lot of things came off for him. Overreacted at times and did not help matters.
SANCHEZ- 8/10
Fortuitous first goal but looked the most likely to score and was at the heart of Arsenal’s attacking play. Slotted home a cool penalty.
SUBSTITUTES
ELNENY- 6/10
Shored things up
PEREZ- 6/10
His shot led to the penalty.
WELBECK- NA/10
