Arsene Wenger has admitted Lucas Perez deserves more chances at Arsenal. Perez has been playing second fiddle to Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud.
Perez scored at the stroke of the 26th minute while Theo Walcott scored his 100th goal for the Gunners as they cruised to the quarter-final of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Sutton. They will now face Lincoln City in the next round.
Perez was a summer signing for £17m from Deportivo La Coruna but hasn’t had his chances so far. Wenger preferred Sanchez in the centre forward position this season. Perez’s position at the club emerged in darkness as his agent Rodrigo Fernandez revealed earlier that the striker might leave the club.
Wenger said, “Yes, he is pushing on the door but I have many strikers,
“I have Giroud, Welbeck, Walcott, Alexis and Lucas.
“It is true that he deserves a go because he scores goals and is a good player.”
