Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed he apologised to Arsene Wenger for liking a post regarding his future with Arsenal.
Chamberlain was caught after he liked a post of Arsenal Fan TV which was titled, ‘Wenger needs to go’. Social media was quick to speculate Wenger’s future who is yet to be offered a new contract.
The incident happened after their 3-1 defeat against Chelsea. The League leaders humiliated the Gunners who are likely to see another year without the league title.
The former Southampton player said he did apologise to the gaffer but he had no idea about what he was talking about.
“It happened on the team bus on the way back.
“I was on Twitter, scrolling through, and I’ve accidently ‘liked’ something and not realised it.
“I had a knock on the knee so I went and got the physio to put the ice machine on my knee and put my phone down for 10 mins. Picked my phone back up and saw all the commotion and didn’t know what had gone on.
“It could have been anything that I ‘liked’ and it happened to be that one. It was a complete and utter accident.
“If I meant to do that, at that time, it would have been very out of character. I hope it was clear it was an accident. It was not ideal, the title of the tweet, but I spoke to the manager and explained.”
