No matter how pathetic Arsenal’s recent performances have been in the league over the past few years, the boss has always maintained a fatherly relationship with the players at the clubs.
According to reports, one of Arsenal’s most exciting player, Hector Bellerin, has now stated that he would be open to Barcelona move if the gaffer leaves at the end of the season. With Barcelona’s right-back crisis reaching its peak, the youngster is high on their priority list.
Bellerin had recently signed a six-and-a-half-year contract at Arsenal, in November in fact, based on assurances that Wenger would remain at the club for the foreseeable future. And given the fans’ huge demand for Wenger’s departure, a move out for the youngster might be a possibility.
If Bellerin decides to leave, here are 3 alternatives they can go for.
Jose Gaya- Shkodran Mustafi’s former teammate at Spanish club Valencia has been one of the Arsenal’s long-term target. Touted by many as one of the best prospects in Europe in full-back’s role, 21-year-old now has many suitors willing to sign him. Although a left-back by nature, his versatility has been admirable and he can easily switch roles.
Once a top Real Madrid target, Gaya has drawn similarities with Barcelona star Jordi Alba and is a prime example of a modern-day side-back, who can read the game perfectly, really quick on the run and is tremendously lethal in causing real damage when on the counter. With Valencia, not in the best of form in the league, his departure from Mestalla is a possibility.
Cedric Soares- Barcelona are also hot on heels of this Southampton right-back. The 25-year-old Portuguese international has been brilliant at times for the Saints this season, who can produce some of the brilliant crosses from the flanks and is equally adept in his defensive duties.
His style of play involves short passes and he likes to keep it on ground, which pretty much makes him the perfect player for Arsenal’s style of play. Although he lacks the lightning pace that Bellerin is famous for, he could be a potent replacement.
Serge Aurier- Arsene Wenger has been a big fan of this player for a long time and the 23-year-old has been tremendous for Paris Saint-Germain for the past two seasons. A world-class athlete with an unequalled stamina and pace to move up and down the pitch on the right, Aurier will be a serious level-up for the Arsenal team. With his first team chances drying up in PSG, he might consider moving elsewhere.
