Everton have been impressive under Ronald Koeman this season and despite the manager coming in last summer and getting in a number of new players, it hasn’t been too patchy for them. They have been difficult to beat and have not lost their attacking sharpness and threat at all. In fact, they have looked more balanced and with the likes of Lukaku firing, things are looking up for the Toffees. The injury to Bolasie has been unfortunate and his absence has been a miss for them but Koeman has not let that affect his team’s performance and the likes of Lookman have stepped up admirably.
Farhad Moshiri’s apparent green light to make even more signings in the coming window will certainly see the team get strengthened. But along with that comes the likely inevitability of a number of players being moved on to make room for the incoming signings.
Let us take a look at 3 players who are odds on to leave the club in the summer.
PHIL JAGIELKA
The English centre-back has been a faithful servant for the club and has been the backbone of their team for a long time. He has been a part of their best season and has also shared the lows. With Moyes taking over at Sunderland at the start of the season, there was the expected talk of Jagielka getting re-united with his former boss but Everton’s inability to secure any more defensive signings other than Williams put an end to that. But in the summer, there is a high possibility that Koeman will get in a fresh face at centre-back which will see Jagielka make an exit.
GARETH BARRY
The former Manchester City man has played his part to perfection ever since he made the move to the Goodison Park and has been a solid operator in the middle of the park.
But with the acquisition of Schneiderlin, he has played a midfield 3 mainly comprised of the Frenchman, Davies and Gueye. With McCarthy pushing for a start himself, the days for Barry at the club look numbered. A move to the MLS might be forthcoming.
MARTEN STEKELENBURG
The goalkeeper has been out of favour after making a number of high-profile errors and has been replaced by Robles who has been pretty good till now. With Everton actively looking for a high-profile keeper, it is highly likely that one of the two will be making their way out. Stekelenburg has turned 34 and is likely to be the one who will make way.
