Axel Tuanzebe has claimed that his dreams came true after he made his debut against Wigan in the FA Cup fourth round. United shrugged off Wigan 4-0 to progressYo to the next round.
Tuanzebe replaced the injured Timothy Fosu Mensah at the stroke of 68th minutes and has had a pretty decent debut. He was in the travelling squad for the Hull City match but didn’t play the game.
The U-23 captain had been praised by Mourinho recently. The defender revealed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic was continuously telling him to ‘keep it simple’ and he just followed Zlatan’s advice.
“It was crazy. I’ve been thinking about this since I was a little boy and, now it’s come true, you’re really over the moon. I can’t really believe it’s happened.
“Me and my family are very proud, but now it’s just about getting back to the training ground and going again. If I’m with the under-23s, I’m with the under-23s, but I’ll stay humble and keep working hard to get another opportunity to play again.
“I was on the touchline and I could hear Zlatan saying ‘keep it simple, keep it simple,’ so I wanted to follow his advice.
“After you start playing, you just concentrate on your own game. You get a feel for the ball, a couple of touches. Once you know you’re playing, it’s a reality. It’s like you’re playing Sunday League football.”
