Wayne Rooney has revealed he wants to do something in coaching after his retirement.
The 31-year-old recently broke the 44-year-old record of Bobby Charlton to become the highest ever goal scorer for Manchester United. The Red Devils captain has become a fringe player at the Old Trafford this season and has managed to score just five times in 27 appearances under Jose Mourinho.
Rooney has lost the touch this season that he used to have and has appeared mostly from the bench. The Everton academy graduate was the subject of an offer from China but has rejected it to remain at United.
On being asked about his future he answered, “Of course, when you get a bit older you start to think a bit more about the game and it’s something I’d like to do.
“My whole life has been around football and the minute I finish playing I’ll try to stay in the game. Hopefully, I’ll get the opportunity to manage.
“Players playing in this generation have enough money to not have to go into management. The ones who want to do it will be successful.”
