Aston Villa did a phenomenon job this week by roping in Nottingham Forest captain, Henri Lansbury, to bolster their chances of qualifying for the play-off spots in the Sky Bet Championship. Though the Villans are much elated by their economical yet stupendous acquisition, Nottingham Forest have a massive void to fill. The 26-year-old had been in superb form this term, scoring 6 goals, bagging 3 chances and creating as many as 29 chances 17 appearances.
The Reds have a daunting task ahead and them and let’s not forget that they are very much in the vicinity of the relegation zone. They need to act fast in the ongoing transfer window to find someone who can fill the shoes of Lansbury and here are three players who could be vouched for the same.
Peter Whittingham
Cardiff City midfielder, Peter Whittingham, is one of the evergreen players in Championship. Arguably, he the most important cogs in the tactical nous of the Bluebirds and despite in his thirties, it seems as if there are years of football left in him. So far this term, he has scored 5 goals in 22 appearances, bagging 5 assists and creating as many as 56 chances as well.
He is a veteran servant of the game and considering that his contract runs out in the summer, Forest can put the necessary cash on him and get him to bail themselves out of the apparent relegation scare.
Gary Gardner
Gary Gardner is someone who knows how the Tricky Trees’ machinery works, having plied his trade for them when he was bought on loan in 2015. The 24-year-old is a decent midfielder whose move to the City Ground Club isn’t out of the cards and would be more than a good signing for Nottingham Forest. He has appeared 16 times this term and is definitely in the scheme of things in the Championship. Undoubtedly, a large part of the sprain will be eradicated if this Aston Villa midfielder is bought in the ongoing transfer window.
Alex Mowatt
At the onset, it was perceived that Alex Mowatt would be one of the best players for Leeds United in due course of time, but what has transpired actually isn’t something to be very proud of. The 21-year-old has many ahead of him in the pecking order of the Peacocks and to top it up, his contract expires in the summer which means that he might be bidding a goodbye to the Elland Road in the ongoing transfer window.
Nottingham Forest can seriously consider signing him, for he is young and will most probably be available for an economical fee. Nonetheless, he is a nice midfielder who is just a yard off the track.
