Garry Monk did manage to give a glimpse of his excellent ability to manage during his Swansea City days but things did not last long at that time. Or, probably Swansea City were too impatient. They tried replacing Monk but have failed to do that and now the Welsh club are most likely on their way down. However, Monk has been able to showcase his talent once again as he is doing an excellent job at Leeds United.
After so many years, the Whites are truly in the running for a playoff spot and Monk seems to be a man who will leave no stone unturned in his quest of bringing the Yorkshire-based side back to the top tier which is why Leeds are expected to do some business in January. Sky Sports claims that Leeds are preparing a raid on fellow Championship club Norwich City as they are looking to lure youngster Sergi Canos from Carrow Road. So, what about the youngster? Is he really good enough to make an impact at Elland Road?
Strengths
Canos’ footballing education was from two of Europe’s best academies Barcelona and then Liverpool and from that, you can easily see his immense potential. One thing you can expect from any La Masia product especially attackers is a solid technique. During his time on loan at Brentford and this season for Norwich City whenever he has played, he has regularly found an end product in his game. Still only 19, the future seems bright for the Spaniard and if that future is at Leeds, it will be a good thing for the Whites.
Weaknesses
Well, 19 is not the ideal age to identify weaknesses of a player. Canos is still very much a player whose development is in progress and he has few drawbacks in his game. One of those is poor passing accuracy. His passing success this season for Norwich in the Championship has been just 63.5% which is nowhere close to good enough. However, I personally do not feel 103 minutes of Championship football is enough to judge a player.
Opportunities
Canos was a player held in high regard when he was in the youth ranks of Liverpool but one thing he made clear from his move to Norwich at a young age that, he is hungry for success and wants to achieve that by playing on a regular basis. His hunger to prove himself will help him do well at Leeds. A passionate player, Canos could become a fan-favourite at Leeds.
Threats
Well, there are not many threats posed by this deal. Canos is a promising young player and is proven at the Championship level. He is exactly the kind of attacker Monk loves to have and has all it takes to become a big success at Elland Road.
