Jürgen Klopp has a lot on his plate right now with his team looking in disarray, needs to sort a whole lot of things now. There was a sense of uneasiness when Klopp decided to make selective purchases in the summer window, which, even though were quality additions, did not help with the issue of depth in the team and it was apparent that Liverpool doesn’t have a Plan B up their sleeves.
And with the team winning just 1 out of the last 8, in the absence of Coutinho and Mane, the fear has come true. Klopp might now look to add to his attacking department before the end of the transfer window and has to get a move on if he intends to add. But amidst all this, an exit is looking to be on the cards. We are talking about the inevitable exit of Liverpool’s forgotten man, Mamadou Sakho. The defender had a fall out with Klopp in pre-season and hasn’t made an appearance since April 2016. He has been linked with an exit and with the window coming to its close, let us take a look at 3 potential destinations for the powerhouse defender.
WEST BROMWICH ALBION
The Baggies had been linked with the defender previously after falling out of favour at Anfield and with the window about to shut, can use this opportunity to come back for the defender. Tony Pulis has impressed at the Hawthorns this season and with his team currently in the 8th spot, he’d welcome this vast influx of quality.
Sakho can also play at left-back and Pulis will know he has to refresh things if West Brom wants to sustain the momentum.
STOKE CITY
The Potters have somewhat recovered after a horrific start to the season and although they have been extremely inconsistent, the last few weeks have been good. They have a platform to finish a lot higher up the table than what was anticipated after a month into the season. But the backline has been an area of concern for them this season.
Ryan Shawcross hasn’t looked the same and is struggling to get back to his peak form while Bruno Martins Indi hasn’t been a runaway success by any means. Sakho’s physicality and approach would suit the Potters and with their troubles encompassing the left-back area as well, he will be an ideal addition with pace, power and experience all on offer in abundance.
LEICESTER CITY
The Foxes have been extremely poor in their title defence and desperately need a turnaround soon. The defence has been an area of concern for them and with Luis Hernandez leaving for Malaga, they are extremely short-changed in that area.
Sakho will bring in experience and calibre and will be an ideal player to challenge Morgan and Huth for a first team place. With Liverpool not participating in the Champions League, he can turn up for Leicester in the Round of 16, with the Foxes in desperate need of depth in quality.
