Another chance to leapfrog Newcastle United went begging for Brighton & Hove Albion when their game against Cardiff at the Amex was postponed due to fog. Not only was it frustrating, but as their manager, Chris Hughton pointed out, these piling up of the fixtures could have a huge impact later in their campaign.
Brighton & Hove Albion are currently on a brilliant 17-match unbeaten run and this frustration could take its toll on an extremely confident side in the upcoming matches. Re-arranging the visit is coinciding with the Seagulls’ FA Cup campaign at home to MK Dons next Saturday. That could be further rescheduled if either club makes progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Newcastle United, for now, stay at the top of the Championship table with Brighton just one point behind them with one game in hand. Brighton visits Fulham on Monday which will undoubtedly be a tricky fixture.
Fulham started December with a bang, winning 5-0 at home against Reading. They went on to maintain an unbeaten streak throughout the month, winning 3 games and drawing 2. They currently lie 8th in the league with 36 points, 4 points below the play-off spots.
Predicted 4-4-2 Brighton & Hove Albion Lineup To Beat Fulham
Defence
Brighton, on the positive side, will have a full-strength side while others will have to rotate their squad for the closely-knit fixtures. Gaetan Bong and Bruno are expected to start on the defensive flanks with Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk taking the central defensive role.
Brighton have kept the most number of clean sheets in the Championship this season (13), and the backline is expected to keep it that way against Fulham.
The return of Liam Rosenior will further add depth to the squad as they play an FA Cup game after this. Lewis Dunk is on 9 yellow cards and the last match’s postponement meant he will play in the difficult fixture against Fulham.
David Stockdale should continue to take his position under the bar.
