Rangers will take on Motherwell in the Scottish League and the game will be the home team’s chance to do something about the defeat they suffered at the hands of the same opponents a few days back. Rangers picked up a narrow Cup win over Motherwell courtesy of two late goals from Kenny Miller and the away side will have rued their luck after nearly doing what was deemed as an unlikely result.
Rangers are second in the League table but could be pushed down to third if Aberdeen win their game in hand (if they really do). Mark Warburton’s side did a decent enough job in the first half of the season and the fans will expect better performances in the second half to solidify their second spot as the first spot pretty much seems out of reach. Celtic are unlikely to take their foot off the pedal and even if they do, the lead they’ve built at the top of the table is so huge that it’s highly unlikely they can be toppled by any team.
All Rangers can do is tighten their grip on the second spot and Warburton certainly has the players who can do that for him.
Here’s how Warburton could set up his team for the game.
Predicted Rangers Lineup
Warburton will have Danny Wilson available for the game and he could make the team alongside Rob Kiernan at the heart of the defence. The duo formed a solid partnership last season in the Championship and will be expected to keep out the Motherwell attacks tomorrow.
James Tavernier is available after serving out his suspension and he’ll be expected to maraud down the right flank. Lee Wallace is expected to do the same on the left flank. In goal, the ever reliable Wes Foderingham is expected to start.
Andy Halliday is expected to start as the deepest of the three midfielders and he could well be partnered by Josh Windass and Jason Holt. Barrie McKay is expected to start on the left and will cause problems with his pace and trickery. Not to forget, he has a venomous right foot as well.
Kenny Miller is pretty old now, so there are doubts if he can recuperate in time and play again so soon. Martyn Waghorn could start up front after playing on the right in the last game. That will mean that Harry Forrester might get a game on the right and he’ll be keen to impress.
