Liverpool finished 2016 in style with a 1-0 win against Manchester City on the New Year’s Eve and they will be keen to start 2017 on a good note. The busy festive fixture sees the Reds playing another game in just two days after beating Manchester City and this time they will travel to the North East to take on David Moyes’ Sunderland who are once again enduring a sticky spell.
Sunderland have to pull off a serious fightback in the second half of the season if they have to keep their Premier League status and will be keen to come up with an upset against Liverpool.
The reverse fixture ended in a 2-0 win for Liverpool. Sunderland did really well to keep Liverpool from scoring for more than 70 minutes but Liverpool’s quality in attack proved to be too much to handle for Moyes’ resolute defence in the end. Sunderland’s recent defensive displays have been far from impressive.
They conceded four goals against Burnley on Saturday as they lost 4-1 and failed to step out of the danger zone.
Predicted 4-3-3 Liverpool Lineup Vs Sunderland
Defence
Since Simon Mignolet replaced errant Loris Karius under the bar, Liverpool has conceded just one goal in four games. The Belgian will certainly keep his place under the bar but Liverpool fans will hope that he does not try to do anything fancy like he did with the ball outside the box against Aguero in the win against Manchester City.
Nathaniel Clyne will keep his place at right-back.
At the heart of the defence, we expect Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan to keep their respective place with Joel Matip still out injured.
James Milner kept Raheem Sterling silent in the last game which proves that how well he has developed at left-back. There is no replacing him at left-back right now.
