Midfield
Jason Denayer should make his way back to the starting XI. He has not been impressive at all in midfield this season but against Liverpool, he could come in handy with his defensive ability.
Skipper John O’Shea is also likely to start in midfield and his job will also be pretty much similar.
Seb Larsson will complete the midfield trio. The Swede will be assigned the job of creating chances from midfield with both of his midfield partners being defenders by trade.
Attack
Fabio Borini will start as the number ten against his former club. He will be operating just behind the striker duo Jermain Defoe and Victor Anichebe.
The whole Sunderland team will be looking to defend against Liverpool which makes the trio’s job much harder. They will have to create chances for themselves and hit Liverpool on the break.
