Everton are quite miraculously still in the top half of the table as the clubs around them have been inconsistent as well. After yet another frustrating draw against Hull City, which saw Koeman’s men underperforming, Everton now sit seventh in the League table, although Manchester United, above them, are way out of their reach now.
The next face Southampton, who are three points and two places below them and a further slip-up will surely drag them down the table. If Everton’s poor run continues, Ronald Koeman could be under real pressure. With Swansea City and Crystal Palace already taking bold steps in the last few weeks, the thought has surely might have crossed Everton’s mind.
Koeman joined with a big hype and an even bigger transfer kitty. Although Everton still retain a place in the top half, which more or less meets their expectations, we have seen how fast tables are turning around in Premier League this season.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Everton Line-Up To Beat A Resilient Southampton Side
Defence
Joel Robles replaced Stekelenburg last match and is expected to take his place again under the bar. He looked uncomfortable from set-pieces and Hull tried to exploit it to the maximum. Southampton are a better opponent.
Baines and Coleman are expected to take their defensive positions on the flank. Baines’ defensive duties looked shaky against Hull and he will have to improve them against the Saints. Coleman also looked off last time. Against a Southampton side, who will look to use the flanks to provide crosses in, they both have crucial tasks.
Williams and Jagielka looked more or less stable at the back, we expect Koeman to rotate the squad a bit this time. Funes-Mori is expected to start against Southampton.
