Tottenham Hotspur have probably been handed the easiest fixture amongst the Top 6 teams in the Premier League and will surely use this opportunity to test their bench strength as they aim for a win over League Two outfit, Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
While Manchester City face Palace away and Arsenal face Southampton at the latter’s stadium, Spurs will consider themselves lucky with the tie affording Pochettino a breather to his main stars to recharge their batteries before arduous tasks ahead in the League where they are in pole position to challenge Chelsea’s domination.
Mauricio Pochettino has transformed this side in the last two years and is building a fantastic young team and their whole approach resembles a young Borussia Dortmund side although being in the English Premier League, their spending capacity and sometimes necessity is automatically higher. Poch has turned around the careers of a number of first team players and under him, an emphasis on promoting youth products to the first team has been implemented and has been a resounding success as well.
They will be facing Wycombe Wanderers who are currently in the 5th position in League Two and they will be looking to soak in the atmosphere and with absolutely no pressure on them, would look to express themselves to the best of their ability.
Predicted 3-4-3 Tottenham Hotspur Lineup Vs Wycombe Wanderers
DEFENCE
Vorm is expected to come into the side in place of Hugo Lloris who would welcome a breather after his shocking display against Manchester City. There is no question about his class though and it was an off day for him, nothing more. The back three has been thrown into disarray with Vertonghen’s injury and Alderweireld is unlikely to be risked. Wimmer is a sure-shot inclusion while Carter-Wickers is likely to get a game. Eric Dier is expected to be the experienced one in this setup and will play an important part.
MIDFIELD
Ben Davies will in the left wingback role which will give Rose a chance to cool his heels. Trippier will be on the opposite side and will be replacing Walker. In central midfield, Pochettino might look to give both Wanyama and Dembele an off but it looks as if Wanyama might retain his place with the inexperienced defence behind him. Winks will most likely partner him in midfield.
ATTACK
N’Koudou might get a rare start on the left-side with Son providing a viable alternative. Sissoko is expected to get a game and will most likely line-up on the right-hand side. Janssen will start up front affording Kane a chance to take an off.
