Manchester United players are set for a huge pay cut if United fail to finish in the top four. The players could lose up to 25 percent of their wage.
United are currently sixth in the Premier League having drawn their last match against Stoke City. The Red Devils spent a large sum to bring the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly. United paid a world record £89m to Juventus to re-sign Pogba.
Pogba currently earns £290,000 a week while Zlatan Ibrahimovic takes home £220,000. The French midfielder is right now the highest paid player in the Premier League. A United source said, “The squad has reductions built in to protect from a drop in revenue.”
Not only this, the Red Devils are also set to lose a lion’s share of their kit deal with Adidas which is roughly 30% – a whopping £22.5m if they fail to qualify for the Champions League for a second year running.
