Manchester United are set to activate the one-year extension clause in David De Gea’s contract to fend off interests from other clubs. The Spanish Keeper has been one of the most consistent players since his arrival at the Old Trafford.
De Gea currently takes home a staggering £180,000 a week and United are set to give a massive pay hike to him. He will be one of the highest paid players of United with a wage past the £200,000 mark.
When The Spaniard signed a new contract last year after the Real Madrid saga, the Red Devils included a one-year extension clause in the contract. The Spaniard international was on the verge of joining Real Madrid but thanks to a fax machine the 26-year-old remained at the club and signed a new contract a few days later.
De Gea survived a few early jitters after his much-hyped transfer from Atletico Madrid in 2011 but then went on to establish himself as one of the most successful shot-stoppers of Europe.
