Marouane Fellaini has got the backing of his fellow teammate Juan Mata. The Belgian scored United’s second goals as the Red Devils rallied on to defeat Hull City 2-0 in the EFL Cup semifinal.
Fellaini has not been a fan favourite since his since his £27.5million move from Everton three years ago. The midfielder was in the centre of attraction when his mistake led the referee to award a late penalty to Everton against United. He also got booed by the supporters in the next match when he was seen warming up.
But Mata believes that the Belgian deserved the goals as he had to struggle a lot since he made a switch to the Red Devils. The Spaniard who scored the opener against Hull City said, “I am very happy for Marouane because he has had difficult times since he came to the club.
“But he is a great guy. He is a great person. He trains always the best he can. It was an important goal for him and when you come onto the pitch in the second half you are always trying to do something to change the game and he did that. I am very happy because he deserved it.
“He always gets on very well with everyone. Since I came here he was a good friend of mine and everyone in the dressing room.
“Everybody was happy for his goal. When a team mate is not in the best situation and it is difficult for him we have to be there to support him.”
